Silkeborg's very own Mads Mathias is well on his way to becoming an international jazz star. Meet him at Kedelhuset with the big ‘Mads Mathias Orchestra’ - a compact big band that plays his original songs from the Danish Music Award winning album Free Falling, and the recently released album I’m All Ears.
You have often been able to meet Mads Mathias at the Riverboat Jazz Festival in Silkeborg - in 2022 it will be in the luxury edition with a hand-picked pearl range of the best Nordic jazz musicians who superiorly move between dynamic big band power to the delicate and intimate.
The music is arranged especially for the orchestra by one of Europe's best organizers, the Grammy Award nominee Peter Jensen.
The Silkeborg singer / songwriter has won the hearts of music lovers with his charismatic performance, lively personality and creative original songs.
His career has really taken off when he played in the Royal Albert Hall at the acclaimed BBC Proms and the seat opened this year's London Jazz Festival at the big gala concert with Seal and Angelique Kidjo.
Inspired and influenced by the great jazz vocalists from Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra to Harry Connick Jr., and with a deep respect for the crooner tradition, Mathias is nonetheless an original talent with a unique and effortlessly charming vocal and an ability to write catchy and memorable, stylishly crafted melodies.
Several of the songs have also won prizes at some of the world's biggest songwriting competitions, and Mads has received various prizes and Danish Music awards.
